 AQUALYX™ is an injectable treatment of 12alfa-dihydroxy-5beta-24-oico cholanic acid sodium salts, which is a modified compound of cholanic acid. It is not a simple solution of deoxycholate. It is being marketed for 'Aqualysis' or 'Aquaplasty' treatment as a means of body contouring.  Aqualyx is injected into target areas and works by breaking down the cell membrane to liquify fat cells and destroy them permanently. The lipids are then eliminated naturally through the body's lymphatic draining system. 

For the best results, you'll need between two and eight treatments, depending on the size of the area treated. Most common is two to three treatments, spaced four to six weeks apart. 

 Immediately after treatment, there may be slight redness, swelling, tenderness and an itching sensation in the treated area. This is a normal result of the injections. This is temporary and generally disappears in a few days. If it continues or if other reactions occur, please call us. The results directly after the treatment should not be seen as the final result. Results will be seen at around 4 weeks and after 2-8 treatments.

Avoid touching the treatment area 6 hours after the treatment. After that the area can be gently washed with soap and water, and light make-up can be applied in the case of the neck/jaw area after 24 hours.

Until the initial swelling has resolved, do not expose the treated area to intense heat (e.g sunbathing) or extreme cold.

If you are using aspirin or any similar medication, be aware that these may increase the bruising and bleeding at the injection site.
